THE OLYMPICS PARIS 2024
The 33rd Olympiad, PARIS 2024, with 596 athletes from 206 official delegations plus the Refugees Olympics representing 100 million persons displaced in the world. – France hosted three Summer Olympics in 1900, 1924, and 2024. Also, hosted three Winter Olympics.
RULES:
- In the first phase, the countries (16 teams of men and 12 teams of women) are divided in groups of four nations each.
- The two best (top) teams of each group advance to the elimination phase.
- In the women category, because there are only twelve teams, also advance the two best third places.
- In the elimination phase must have a clear winner. If not decided in the regular 90 minutes will have extra time (2 times of 15 minutes each). If persists a tie, then penalty decision will get the winner.
US MEN IS BACK AFTER A 16-YEAR HIATUS
The United States Men Team qualified for the Olympics for the first time since 2008. The U.S. qualified for the 2024 Olympics with a dominant performance at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship in Honduras, defeating the host nation 3×0 in the tournament semifinals to secure its Olympic berth.
- The MEN’s Category is mostly a U-23 tournament, meaning the birth date cut-off is January 1, 2001.
- All teams that qualified for the Olympics are allowed to bring three overage players.
- Club teams are not compelled by FIFA to release players for the Olympics, which are officially classed as a youth event, so don’t expect to see the best in the world. Or the best on the US roster.

US WOMEN
1996 Atlanta Games was the first-time women’s soccer was included in the Olympic Program and the U.S. women won the first ever gold medal awarded in women’s Olympic soccer at the Atlanta ‘96.
The U.S., the host country fought to its inclusion and that the Women category had no age restrictions, and thus the U.S. Olympic Women Soccer Team is essentially the U.S. National Team.
